About the Director
Rana Roy is a London-born, Dubai-raised award-winning artist of Egyptian, Nubian-Sudanese, and Indian descent. Before directing, she built an international career spanning dance, music, television, theatre, and film. She earned an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute in 2025. Inspired by a lineage of doctors and archaeologists while drawing from a 25-year career in movement and performance, her practice is an act of Emotional Archaeology: excavating the body as a landscape of the unspoken. She is currently developing her debut feature, MUMMY, an Egyptian psychological body horror that reclaims a word long stolen from its cultural origins.
