About the Director
Matt Chandler is a London-based queer writer and director whose work spans psychological thrillers, dark comedies, horror, and experimental art. An Assistant Director by trade, he has built a wealth of experience across short and long-form projects, while developing his own voice through narrative films, music videos, and feature scripts in development.
A graduate of the University of Bristol, Matt now works full-time as a freelance creative with a sharp focus on queer storytelling -often exploring psychology-driven narratives, character studies, and the fluidity of time and memory.A two-time winner at the National Youth Film Awards and recipient of the First Flights Film Fund (2025), Matt has directed six short films alongside numerous music videos, adverts, and experimental works.
Every Time I See a Yellow Car, written in 2023 and produced by Poppy O’Hagan (Giant Films), marks his most ambitious and personal project to date - a psychological exploration of queerness, masculinity, and memory.
