About the Filmmaker: Emma Moffat is a Cumbrian Writer and Director particularly interested in action and unusual stories from the past. Following a state school education, she read History at Cambridge (where she studied under the official Historian of MI5 for two years) and has a keen interest in warfare, secret intelligence and women’s history.
Currently she is writing her debut feature film, PAPERCUT, a thriller set in the 1980s as well as co-writing several history-related comedy projects with Briony Redman. Emma’s next short film, SCOPE is in post-production. Watch this space for updates!
Emma’s previous short, A BATTLE IN WATERLOO stars Oscar and BAFTA-nominee Jessie Buckley and played at several Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals including HollyShorts Film Festival , Underwire Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival and BFI Flare Film Festival.
Emma is a BAFTA Connect member and is represented by Rob Kraitt at Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.
Having started out as a Set PA on INCEPTION and worked in VFX on films such as CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, SKYFALL, and SPECTRE, Emma made her first short film EXPOSURE in 2015 and some micro short comedy films. She was chosen in 2016 for Wieden + Kennedy’s creative incubator scheme and was shortlisted for the worldwide Jameson First Shot competition in 2017. In 2018 she assisted Christopher McQuarrie on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT.
