Synopsis: Children lie. But when one lie threatens Ms Lawson’s integrity as a teacher, can she keep on defending a student as peculiar as Maria Obasi?
About the Filmmaker: Susan Wokoma is an award winning actor, writer and director. Susan graduated from RADA as an actor and has starred in array of critically acclaimed television shows such as Chewing Gum, Crazyhead (Best Performance RTS award) and Crashing (Netflix/Channel 4) as well as features such as the Enola Holmes series (Legendary/Netflix), Half of a Yellow Sun and the Film4/Blueprint/Netflix film The Beautiful Game amongst many others.
Susan was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2017 pivoting her way into writing and directing.
She was in the Sex Education series 2 writers room, has written for Sky comedy series The Reluctant Landlord before going onto write, star and produce Love The Sinner, a sky comedy short which won the Broadcast Digital Award, was longlisted for BIFA Best British Short, as well as screening at Encounters Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival and London Film Festival.
Following on from an in house short based on the script, Susan is currently in pre production with her debut feature Three Weeks which she has written and will direct as well as star in. She is also developing a series with Objective Media Group and a co production with Complete Fiction and Netflix.
