Synopsis: Bolbol tells the story of three generations of Iranian women under one roof in London. Maryam dedicates her life to care for her elderly mother Maman Joon who has dementia while simultaneously raising her teenage daughter Sadira who struggles with her Iranian-British identity.
About the Filmmaker: Lucianna Kyriacou, our director, is also an actress and writer. They have taken on a multitude of roles within the creative industry which has ultimately equipped them with a comprehensive understanding of creative production and storytelling. Lucianna has just finished training at the National Youth Theatre and has recently put on their first play, which they wrote and produced. Bolbol is Luciannas debut first film, they are currently in post-production for their own short film, Vreshi, an intimate biographical drama, which they wrote, directed and produced. Part of their process is to create honest reflections of human stories and tends to work with those whom the art represents.
