Synopsis: In pursuit of his passion, an aspiring British-Moroccan actor risks ostracism from his family and community after starring in a film with a graphic sex scene.
About the Filmmaker: Having started his career in the film & advertising industry as a Director’s Assistant, Werner has gone on to work with renowned filmmakers & artists, such as Ruben Östlund, Julian Fellowes, FKA Twigs and Natalie Rae.
In 2021, he made his debut short film ‘Winter Coat’. The film went on to play at various Oscar & BAFTA qualifying festivals. His second short film ‘Walls Like Windows’ starred Anthony Welsh and BAFTA nominee & Olivier Award winner Juliet Stevenson. It went on to win (x2) Golds at the Kinsale Shark Awards and was nominated for ‘Best Short’ at the Cannes Young Director Award (YDA), and 1.4 awards. Since then, his work has earned him a nomination for ‘New Director of the Year’ by Shots and ‘Best New Talent’ at Ciclope.
His script ’Liana’ was shortlisted at the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition. The project, set to mark his feature debut, has Anthony Welsh attached as the lead and Alex Ayodele-Otele producing.
