Synopsis: Charles gets to be King! But what does Joan Get?
A naïve and inexperienced Angel sits in a sterile room awaiting judgement for having failed to bear witness to a young farm girl called Joan receive divine instruction. Switching between the black and white world of an angelic HR interrogation and the French country side The Angel looks to her interrogators in the hopes of finding meaning and justification for why Joan, having followed her instructions is destined to be burnt as a witch and heretic.
Inspired by the painting ‘Joan of Arc’ by Jules Bastien Le Page the question at the heart of this film is not whether we drowned or burnt Witches. Rather why the violence and murder of women and all who identify as women is such a consistent and unrelenting thread throughout history.

About the Filmmaker: Growing up around the Yorkshire Moors, Hester thought perhaps she would grow up to be a tragic heroine worthy of The Bronte Sisters. But it turned out she was just a millennial. Moving to New York at 21 Hester attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, intending to follow in the foot steps of Ruth Gordon and pursue an acting career. However as she worked at breaking down scripts, finding her own meaning in other peoples’ words she realised that it was the art of story telling that excited her. Why just play one character when you can create all of them? Working as an AD in Vancouver, to Development Executive in the UK as well as working for international film festivals Hester has covered everything from pitch to festival premiere.
