Synopsis: A short documentary focusing on identical twin, Jay Southern and his desire for better inclusion and accessibility for deaf and disabled people in sport. A story about family, disability and belonging to a community.
About the Filmmaker: Stefan is a UK based, Sony Future Filmmaker nominated documentary filmmaker, focused on highlighting personal stories of social change and community, drawing on his own lived experiences, to improve authentic representation in stories.
In 2024 he was awarded funding from Together TV’s Diverse Film Fund to direct a short Channel 4 documentary, “ALT Jay” which aired as part of the Paralympics coverage and was screened at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival. This was his documentary directorial debut and earnt him a debut director nomination at Edinburgh TV’s Amplify x New Voice Awards. He was 1 of 30 filmmakers shortlisted at this years Sony Future Filmmaker Awards in Los Angeles, from over 11,750 films submitted, by more than 7,500 filmmakers worldwide.
