Through intimate personal stories, rich historical context, and a cultural lens, the film traces how a thriving legacy rooted in migration, music, resistance, and community has been gradually eroded over the years.
About the Filmmaker: NIYADRE is an award winning director and editor based in Luton and London. His work captures the essence of an artist’s lyrics and sound through powerful symbolism and picturesque imagery, often achieved with the nostalgic and textured qualities of 16mm film, his preferred medium. The self-taught director has gained recognition for his work with Myles Smith and Rudimental, which has amassed millions views since their release, and for his continued art direction with R&B artists such as BINA. and Raelle, with work featured in Wonderland, Notion and Harpers Bazaar. Recently, Niya was commissioned by the BFI for his first mainstream short film, ‘Beyond The Rush’, marking a significant milestone in his promising career.
